Two Big Carreer Steps: From Technical Communicator to Documentation Manager, from Documentation Area to Communication Area

The presentation will consist of three parts:

1. Introduction
Short presentation of a case study: my personal experience

  • started as a technical communicator
  • appointed as Documentation Manager, after a few years of professional growth
  • progressively extending activities and expertise and gradually embedding issues related to communication (both Corporate internal and external)
  • definite shift of activities core from documentation to communication matters.

2. Sequence of short subsessions
Each sub-session will describe one typical working situation of the documentation/communication environment and analyze the triggers that may lead to a change/move into a new working reality. Each situation will be separately evaluated and discussed in order to identify and exploit specific triggers to reach the personal goal (i.e.: professional enhancement).

3. Wrap up
Summary of the issues presented and of the ideas collected and discussed during the presentation. Final sketch of an ideal working path that will lead technical communicators to a management role and to the wide communication field.
